Lesson for the Week

Love Letter
(03/16/10)

How many of you remember getting your first love letter? How did it make you feel? You walk around smiling all day, thinking about the person who sent it to you. You think about the next time you’ll see or talk to that person, and you can’t wait. People around you think you’re goofy, but you know different. You’ve been told that someone loves you. That’s one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Now, let’s take that thought and apply it to the Bible. Does the Bible tell us the story of God and His people? Yes. Is it a guide for our lives today? Also, yes. Do you know it’s most important aspect, though? It’s a love letter. It was written to each one of us letting us know just how much God loves us. In the NIV Bible, which is the most popular English translation according to
http://www.bible.com/, the word love (or some form of it… loved, loving, etc.) is seen more than 500 times (www.ask.com). Do you think God would have used the word so much if it wasn’t important? He is love. When we read about Him, we read about love… a love that’s special to each of us. The next time you open up your Bible, remember that you’re reading your own personal love letter from God. I hope it leaves you smiling and goofy.
