In the Father’s Arms
(03/23/10)
Yesterday afternoon I took my daughter to her gymnastics class. After running a few errands I came back to pick her up and found a mother in the waiting area holding her daughter while she slept. The child could not have been more than four or five years old; and as she slept, she had this look of complete and utter peace. Do you remember that feeling? Sitting in your mom or dad’s lap and knowing that everything in your world would be just fine. No matter what happened, all was well because you were in their arms and they would take care of everything. Unfortunately, for most of us, that feeling faded a long time ago. But there’s good news. We can have that peace at any time we need it: the peace that passes understanding. Just like we may have done when we were kids, we can climb up in our Father’s lap whenever the world gets too much to handle. The next time you’re feeling alone, tired, or hurt, remember that God is there, hand outstretched, waiting to hold you.
